It is understood by network of optical fiber access to the set of technological elements that connect the terminals of the end users until the terminal equipment of the transport network. Commonly the last mile is denominated to this one section.

Depending on the completion point of the optical fiber, the type of network receives a name or another different one. In order to include all the possible tipologías the common denominator FTTx is used.

Between the different tipologías we found:

• Fiber until the home (Fiber to the home, FTTH)
• Fiber until the sidewalk (Fiber to the curb, FTTC)
• Fiber until the building (Fiber to the building, FTTH)
